Great blog post, Addi!
I thoroughly enjoyed reading your insights on Module 5, and the visuals you incorporated are truly impressive. Your perspective on ChatGPT as a valuable tool when used appropriately resonates with my own views. It’s commendable that you addressed the ethical concerns associated with AI, and I appreciate your acknowledgment of teachers adapting their assessment methods to mitigate cheating risks, opting for traditional paper assessments.
The ethical dilemma surrounding AI, especially in the context of deepfakes, is a point well-articulated in your post. It’s clear that there’s a delicate balance between leveraging the benefits of AI and mitigating potential risks that could have far-reaching consequences for individuals, organizations, and society at large. The rapid development of AI raises concerns about the unforeseen challenges it may pose in the future, and your reflection on the increasing reliance on AI by humans is thought-provoking.

Hi Maya, excellent blog post for Module 4!
Iām impressed with both your H5P activities. I am glad to see in your reflection that your experience with H5P was positive. Your successful H5P activities reflect your adept use of this platform. I had some confusion about setting up the word search, so Iām relieved to know itās doable. I appreciate your discussion of the benefits of word searches, such as improved vocabulary and memorization, and your acknowledgment of them as a passive form of learning in your reflection. Your insights into how the drag-and-drop activity assesses studentsā knowledge and promotes active learning are valuable.
I like the way you link your topic on trees from Module 1 and how you plan to teach students about the environment next week, connecting back to trees. Your lesson plan is well-structured, and I can see how it would be a beneficial lesson. Your reflection on how most of your university courses follow constructive alignment and backward design, along with identifying their flaws, is insightful. I agree with your assessment of the poor execution and disconnection between testing and lessons, which is reflected in the studentsā declining performance in the course.
I concur with your observation regarding one of the courseās strengths, which lies in achieving a balance between passive and active learning. Iāve observed that, in each module, my comprehension of the course context tends to be more profound compared to other passive courses. I attribute this to our requirement to apply theories in the activities that follow the mandatory readings or videos on educational material.
I appreciate how your reflection covers the suitability of different H5P activities for various age groups. Your classification of course presentations, interactive videos, crosswords, drag the words, drag and drop, fill in the blanks, find the hotspots, find the words, and image pairing as more suitable for younger ages aligns with my perspective.
On the flip side, I concur with your perspective that virtual tours and AR scavenger hunts are more suited for higher education students. In my blog reflection, I also posit that these H5P activities demand the most resources for creation. They necessitate substantial prior knowledge and experience, limiting their target audience. Moreover, the development of virtual tours and AR scavenger hunts is not only time-consuming and complex but also demands financial resources.
Overall, your post is fascinating, informative, and well-executed. Great job!

Hi Maya,
Another Exceptional Blog Post!
I concur with your perspective on the significance of storytelling and its ability to forge profoundly meaningful and intimate connections. In relation to your poignant narrative, I also share my own experience with stories centered around historical events/tragedies. Hearing someone recount a personal story adds an unparalleled depth of meaning and context, surpassing what a mere textbook could offer (for me). This is precisely why I hold a deep appreciation for guest speakers in our learning journey. Your Twine storyboard appears remarkably well-crafted, with numerous intricate connections. It’s intriguing to note that the flexibility of this assignment also contributed to the natural flow of your script, a phenomenon I personally experienced. In summary, your blog is an outstanding read, and I’m eagerly anticipating how you’ll harness these storytelling and video creation skills in Assignment Two.

Hi Maya,
I appreciate your Module 2 post and the thoughtful exploration of accessibility, including the use of the WAVE accessibility report.
Itās encouraging to see that your WAVE accessibility report yielded only two contrast errors, a stark contrast to my assessment, which identified nineteen contrast errors on my site. Your example serves as a valuable benchmark for improvement. Recognizing these contrast errors is critical as they profoundly impact the contentās readability for diverse users. Your proactive approach to addressing these issues by incorporating captions for videos and alternative texts for images aligns seamlessly with the principles of inclusive design and Universal Design for Learning, which emphasize the importance of accommodating a wide range of abilities for creating equitable educational experiences. This module has certainly enhanced our groupās awareness of the importance of inclusive accessibility measures, which will be invaluable in future modules.
I concur with your perspective on the Text to Speech tool; it can be both entertaining and occasionally distracting from the learning process. In your discussion of what inclusive design means to you, you emphasize the value of speech-to-text and video captions in enhancing the understanding of media content. I share your sentiment on the usefulness of video captions, particularly for lectures, as they bridge language barriers and provide the option to see the spelling of unfamiliar words, aiding comprehension and contextual understanding. Your interpretation of inclusive design is not only comprehensive but also empathetic, reflecting the admirable goal of encouraging society to embrace inclusive design to ensure accessible learning for everyone, regardless of disability.
Your keen observations regarding the deficiencies in the āWorldās Worst PowerPoint Presentationsā resonates with me. The overload of information, colours, varying bullet point shapes, and irrelevant images certainly hampers the learning experience. Your analysis underscores the significance of maintaining consistency in font sizes, colour themes, structure, and minimizing text, with potential remedies found in principles like segmenting and modularity. This relates with Easel.ly (2021) and Visme (2017), which provide recommendations for designing infographics, embrace principles like a minimalist approach, well-structured content, a clear conveyance of a single key message, and concise text. This alignment with these frameworks further strengthens your infographicās effectiveness.
Your method of crafting the infographic in Canva is truly commendable. Your meticulous incorporation of various design principles undeniably enhances its visual appeal and effectiveness. The addition of alternative text for learners with visual impairments is especially praiseworthy, demonstrating your unwavering commitment to accessibility and a profound understanding of the importance of equal access to information. Your infographic was both engaging and informative.
Your reflection exhibits a deep understanding of the moduleās content and the core principles of inclusive design and accessibility. Your insights have added depth to my comprehension of Module 2, and I have full confidence that as you continue in this course, your materials will become increasingly inclusive and user-friendly for a diverse range of learners.

Hi Addi,
I wanted to express my appreciation for your insights on Module 2. I find your commitment to combining accessibility with creativity truly admirable and impressive. Your perspective highlights the importance of seamlessly integrating these elements.
Reviewing everyoneās experiences with the WAVE evaluation tool was eye-opening. It clearly demonstrated how even minor and unintentional design flaws can significantly impact accessibility. I was personally surprised by the issues identified in my report, but Iām impressed by how proactive and adaptable it is to prioritize making changes based on this valuable feedback.
I agree with your point about the importance of text-to-speech tools in enhancing accessibility, particularly in the context of inclusive design. These tools play a pivotal role in reducing accessibility gaps and ensuring a more equitable experience for all users. Your inclusion of equity in your definition of inclusive design resonates with me, as it reinforces the idea that inclusivity goes beyond accessāitās about fairness and equity.
Your observations regarding the āWorldās Worst PowerPoint Presentationsā are spot on. These presentations are rife with clutter, inconsistency, and a lack of adherence to Mayerās Principles. Itās a great illustration of what not to do in multimedia design.
I found your mention of the potential trade-off between principles like alignment and contrast and creative freedom quite interesting. It underscores the importance of striking a balanceāapplying these principles when they enhance usability without compromising the creative essence of a project.
Lastly, I was thoroughly impressed with your layout for the ā6 Steps to Gardening.ā It was clear, easy to follow, and introduced me to the concept of tactile graphics and braille labels, which Iām eager to explore in future projects.
Thank you for sharing your valuable insights and experiences from Module 2. Itās been an enriching read!

Your Module 1 post is really interesting! Iām familiar with Canva, and I agree itās such a useful tool for school, work, and personal life. Through your screencast, I gained a better understanding of Canvaās features, and you did an excellent job presenting a clear and informative screencast.
I appreciate how you relate this screencast to how Canva is useful in your own life. For example, you referred to examples from old projects and stated which type of infographic you chose, such as a social media application you utilized for work. It was valuable to have both you and your screen recording. By combining narration and a diagram, it resembles your efforts to incorporate the modality principle.
I really appreciate how you took the audience through the process of editing and personalizing a Canva template, focusing on mental health. This is really useful and provides learners the opportunity to refer back and rewind at their preferred pace to your screencast when constructing their own Canva projects.
You did a great job at thoroughly explaining all of the Canva sections while remaining on topic, which demonstrates the coherence principle. I found this Module 1 super interesting since I realized how many of these principles occur in my education and everyday life, which you mentioned as well!
Itās impressive that you recognized not utilizing the pre-training principle to its full potential. Since these principles are important for the foundation in EDCI 337, I am interested to know if the course material will dive into explaining strategies on how to improve incorporating these principles.
Your screencast is suitable for your target demographic, especially since this technology is probably too complex for young children anyway! Overall, amazing work on your screencast, and I am looking forward to working together more!

Hi Maya! Great work on your Module 1 blog post and screencast! Iām really impressed with how you documented the process of creating your screencast, making each step clear. While you mentioned that your presentation may not encompass the signaling principle, I would like to respectfully disagreeā¦ You incorporated different coloured pens and highlighters during your brainstorming, āto-teachā stage, pre-storyboarding, and storyboard. Organizing your screencast into clear sections, inputting arrows (āāāāā) to signal key information, effectively demonstrates your use of the Signaling principle.
Another aspect of the Signaling principle is implementing headers and subheaders, which you displayed in your pre-storyboard and by separating each slide with headers. Itās interesting that you found the most intuitive principle to be segmenting; this is clearly reflected in your screencast. Your consistent focus on trees throughout your presentation signifies your accomplishment of the coherence principle.
Considering your target demographic is younger children, taking the extra time to do 5-10 retakes to perfect your pronunciation and maintain a stable speaking pace was highly beneficial. This effort ensured that your presentation is clear, easy to understand, and delivered with polite speech.
In your screencast, you did an excellent job incorporating two separate channels of visual and audio inputs. Additionally, you applied subheaders/headers, limited text, used arrows to signal, and created a distraction-free learning environment.
I can relate to your technical difficulties using PowerPoint and understand how frustrating it can be, but your final product turned out great! Your reflection on all of Mayerās Principles, which your Module 1 incorporates, shows how carefully you constructed this assignment. The collection of references you used demonstrates your commitment to improving your comprehension and awareness of the information.
Well done! I agree that Module 1ās media and multimedia content was truly interesting. Applying this knowledge to an assignment has proven valuable for future modules, courses, and personal life. I am looking forward to collaborating and working together!

Hello Addi,
I thoroughly enjoyed your analysis of Module 1 and your screencast presentation. Prior to your demonstration, I had not had the opportunity to explore the functionalities of Powtoon. However, your screencast effectively showcased its latent potential, sparking my interest and prompting me to contemplate experimenting with the platform. I particularly commend your presentation for its visual clarity, rendering complex ideas accessible to a diverse audienceāan essential quality in effective communication.
I agree with your assessment of the advantages inherent in the personalization principle for learning. It is impressive how you seamlessly integrate this pedagogical approach into your current role as a leader in physical literacy. It is evident that this module, as well as the overarching course, holds immense promise and be useful in terms of bolstering your future career prospects. Great job!
